Now that the month of August is over, time to review the serious makeup brand who knows how to have fun (a.k.a Too Faced). Intrigued yet? Keep scrolling…
DAYTIME MAKEUP
Before applying any makeup products, make sure to clean and hydrate your skin.
Start with a foundation to even your complexion. The Born This Way liquid foundation applies best with a damp Beauty Blender. At first, the product gives a nice natural finish to the skin but expect a shiny T-zone by the end of the day – especially if you have combination to oily skin. [Note: may emphasize dry patches.]
Use a powder to matify and settle your foundation. The Cocoa Powder Foundation can look natural if used with a light hand. It gives a soft aspect to the skin but may not be ideal for combination to oily skin as you will – once again – be left with a shiny T-zone at the end of the day. The Cocoa Powder Foundation is made of a cocoa complex, therefore, it smells like chocolate. [Note: may emphasize dry patches.]
Apply a bronzer in a 3-shape motion to warm up your complexion. The Chocolate Soleil is a great pigmented matte bronzer which blends quite smoothly on the skin. It has a nice staying power as well and is chocolate scented as the name would suggest.
Add a little color and highlight for a fresh look. The Pink Leopard blushing bronzer is a 2-in-1 product but is more of a blushing highlighter. Dip your brush very lightly in the pan – as it is extremely pigmented – and softly apply in a C-shape motion on the top of your cheekbone and on your browbone. [Note: may emphasize skin texture is used too heavily.]
For more staying power, use a eye primer all over your lid. The Shadow Insurance is not a bad primer although you might want mix the product by pressing the tube before using it.
Apply eyeshadow to define your eyes. The Natural Eyes palette offers a beautiful color selection for any occasion. For this everyday type of makeup, start by smoking the shade Nudie all over your lid up to the crease. Then, apply it under your lower lash line to connect with the halo you just created. Make your eyes pop by dabbing Silk Teddy on the center of your lid. Finally, brighten your eyes by placing Heaven under your eyebrow and on your inner corner – this will also help blend the edges.
Most of these eyeshadows have a nice texture although you should expect some of them to be a little powdery. A primer is well recommended as the eyeshadows will eventually fade away as the day goes by. [Note: for this look I only used my fingers to apply the shadows.]
Apply a few coats of mascara to open your eyes. The Better Than Sex mascara gives a nice volume to the lashes but I would actually not quite recommend it for the following reasons. When combing through the lashes, it is hard not to end up with mascara all over the lash line. The mascara can also transfer onto the upper lid if the lashes touch the skin and it may sometimes leave some crumbles on the cheeks throughout the day. [Note: works at its best when the formula is a little dried up.]
For the final touch, add a nude lipstick to emphasize your natural lipcolor. The Melted Lipstick in the shade Chihuahua works well with this warm-toned makeup. The only issues I have with this lipstick is related to the too sweet scent – which I do not really enjoy – and to the fact it can create a white line inside the lips and accentuate dry skin. Otherwise, the color itself is a great shade which might suit multiple skintones.
NIGHTTIME TRANSFORMATION
As mentioned above, this palette offers a nice color selection and is therefore quite versatile. All you need for this look is to smoke the shade Chocolate Martini along the lash line up to the crease. Then, add Honey Pot to the center of your lid and extend it to the inner corner of your eyes. [Note: the use of brushes might be needed for precision.]
I hope this full review was helpful and I would love to read your thoughts in the comment section. Now, it is your turn to share any of your favorite Too Faced products!
Have fun!
Love,
Hermine

Great post! I was looking forward to this ever since you announced it!!! Super impressed with how well your pictures are, as well as how you honestly described each product (with TooFaced, a lot of people sugarcoat it haha). Haha the only thing wrong with it is that you are so pretty that you would look good with any makeup on, so I can’t tell it it’s good or not lol

Thank you very much for your lovely comment, it means a lot! I agree, this brand is extremely hyped up (which I understand still) but sometimes you just have to take a step back and take your time to really try a product before recommending it or not 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
