Marc Jacobs: verdict – #1month1brand

October is definitely over by now which means it is time for the Marc Jacobs makeup kit to be reviewed. Keep scrolling…

Always start with a clean and hydrated skin before applying any makeup on.

The Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation has a nice light to medium coverage, enough to even out the complexion. Its liquid gel-like formula melts into the skin to give a natural glowing effect. The texture is easy to work with both a brush or with fingers.

For contour, the #INSTAMARC does wonders regarding the deeper shade. It flawlessly structures the face as its smooth formula blends like a dream. On the contrary, the highlight shade can look a little heavy on the skin and make it feel a little dry as well.

The Air Brush blush is a jewel. The finely mild powder leaves a satin finish touch of a flush. Its graphic stripes makes it a 2-in-1 product being both a blush and a highlighter. The highlighter used alone is perfect for illuminating the highpoints of the face.

The Highliner glides on very smoothly in a highly pigmented line which stays on all day. No need to sharpen the pencil. Twist and line, just like that. For more precision, use the small sharpener hidden in the other end of the pencil to make the nib more pointed. [Note: the range offers a large choice of colors and finishes.]

The Velvet Noir mascara deserves all the hype around it. The texture is dense enough to give volume and wet enough to apply a few coats one after another. Through the day, it stays on the lashes without crumbling. [Note: a long lasting formula which may be hard to wipe away with makeup remover.]

The (P)outliner should be used on exfoliated and hydrated lips as it is quite waxy and drying formulawise. Not a bad lip liner but not impressive either. Just like the Highliner, it does not require any sharpening as it comes with a twisting system.

The New Nudes lipstick was later added in the kit as the (P)outliner was too drying to be used on its own. Despite the sheer finish claim, this lipstick is surprisingly pigmented and could be best described as a cream formula with a glossy finish.
