The creators In 1921, Ernest Beaux created the original perfume for Gabrielle Chanel which was then reinterpreted in 1986 by Jacques Polge into the now Eau de Parfum. The name N°5 came from the sample number Gabrielle had chosen among the several others Ernest made.

The creator  In 1925, Jacques Guerlain created the first oriental fragrance in history inspired by the love story between Emperor Shah Jahan and Princess Mumtaz Mahal. The name Shalimar comes from the name of the gardens the emperor had built for his princess.
